UGC Whitelisting vs Paid Usage Rights: What's the Difference?

With paid usage, a brand runs your content as ads from its own account. With whitelisting, also called creator licensing or partnership ads, the ad runs through your handle, so you should agree on access, duration and fee separately.

Paid usage rights

The brand downloads your content and uses it in its own ads. Your account is not involved. Agree the platforms, the territory, the period, and whether the brand can edit or cut the video.

Whitelisting

The ad appears under your name, using your account's identity. That makes your reputation part of the deal. Agree what the brand can post, who approves each ad, and when access ends.

Why they are often priced differently

Whitelisting uses your handle and audience trust as well as your content, so many creators charge more for it. There is no fixed rate. The UGCPing calculator shows one transparent starting point, not a market price.

End access when the term ends

Note the end date and remove the brand's access when the period finishes, unless you have renewed. Check the settings on the platform you granted access through, because each one works differently.
