Brand Still Using Your UGC After Usage Rights Ended? What to Send

Start with a friendly message that names the content, the end date and a renewal fee. Many cases are simple oversights, so give the brand an easy way to fix it before you escalate.

Collect the facts first

Save the contract clause with the end date, a dated screenshot of the live content, and the link where you found it. Check that the period really ended and that this is not a separate agreed use.

Copy this message

Hi [name], I noticed the [content] from our [campaign] is still running on [channel]. Our agreed usage period ended on [date]. Happy to extend it. Another [period] on [channels] would be [fee]. If you would rather not extend, please take it down by [date]. Could you let me know which works for you? Thanks, [your name]

Follow up once, in writing

If you hear nothing after a few working days, reply in the same thread with the date and fee again. Keep it short, and keep every message in writing so you have a clear record.

Know your next step

If the brand still does not respond, consider how much the deal is worth and whether legal help makes sense. A lawyer can tell you what applies under your contract and in your country. This guide is not legal advice.
